The importance of polyether polyols

2022-12-12 Reading Times:

Polyether polyol is a polymer with polyether bond (- R-O-R -) in its molecule and OH group as its terminal group. It is a low molecular compound (prolactin) initiated by active hydrogen, polymerized with compounds containing epoxy structure under the action of catalyst.

Polyether polyol is an important chemical raw material. It is used to synthesize polyurethane (PU) resin products, such as polyurethane foam, polyurethane adhesive, polyurethane adhesive, polyurethane elastomer, etc. In addition, it can also be used as non-ionic surfactant, lubricant, liquid liquid, heat exchange liquid, etc.

Polyether polyols can be divided into two categories. One is polymer, which uses polyol or organic amine as starting agent and adds propylene oxide (PO) (or propylene oxide and ethylene oxide), generally called PPG (polyether polyol). This product is mostly made of PU, and the other is polymer polyol. It is based on PPG, and then polymerized by vinyl monomers such as acrylonitrile (AN) or styrene (SN) to form polyols, called POP (polymer polyether polyols). POP is not used alone, but can be used together with PPG, which can significantly improve the hardness of soft polyurethane foam and its bearing capacity. It is mainly used to manufacture high load bearing polyurethane foam.

Polyether polyols can be divided into hard foam, soft foam, CASE, POP and characteristic polyether.
